FOX News Channel’s Sean Hannity will moderate a red vs. blue state debate between Florida Governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis and Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom, FOX News Media announced on Monday.

The 90-minute event will air at 9 p.m. ET on November 30 in Georgia, marking the first time the two prominent governors will face off in a debate.

"I’m looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issues and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American," Hannity said.

During Hannity’s June exclusive with Gov. Newson, the FOX News veteran first raised prospect of the California Democrat debating DeSantis, who officially signed on to participate in July.

"Let’s get it done. Just tell me when and where – we’ll do it," DeSantis said after Newsom agreed.

Fox News announced Monday that it had set a date for the debate between Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The debate is set to last 90 minutes and will take place in Georgia, although a specific location has yet to be announced. It will be moderated by Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

Fox News said the debate will air on “Hannity” on Nov. 30.

The two governors have been at odds over a number of issues, including guns, abortion, education and immigration.

Newsom has also said he planned to launch an investigation into the planes of migrants flown to California, which were orchestrated by DeSantis’ administration.

During an interview with Newsom in June, Hannity asked the governor if he would be willing to debate DeSantis.

“I’m all in,” Newsom said during the interview.

Hannity is framing the debate as a “policy-based” debate between the leader of a “red state” and the leader of a “blue state.”

DeSantis should hit back by saying it isn't his place to dictate California abortion laws, and it certainly isn't Newsome's place to dictate Florida's.

It'll be exactly the opposite, IMO.

Pres Trump is so far ahead of DeSantis there's no need to tank him.  He can stand on his record alone; economically and certainly on foreign policy.  As Carville so eloquently stated, "It's the economy, stupid!"

He'll use him as a prop to embarrass Newsome. He's spent the past two years raving/featuring how Newsome has allowed California to deteriorate.

We’re probably gonna have to wait till 2028 anyways for any shot to take the White House. Forget any polls  that show Donald Trump leading Biden  by 10 points. For one thing we don’t elect presidents by a national popular vote. And there was a special election for a New Hampshire state seat that flipped Democrat from Republican because the Republican running was. a MAGA  Republican and they are more unpopular with the voters than Joe Biden

Still, it might be a window into what 2028 might look like

At this point, I doubt that DeSantis or any other among the R candidates will be the R nominee. The R convention is almost a year out, and much will happen between now and then. Anyway, even if DeSantis doesn't get the nomination (and he wouldn't be Trump's VP candidate, because that would forfeit FL's Electoral College votes), as long as he doesn't burn the wrong bridges, 2028 could be good for him.

Late November or early December may be "crunch time" for the Dems. It's pretty much the latest optimal time for them to ditch LIEden (+/- him being willing). So for Goobernor Noisome this debate could be a dress rehearsal for a wide open Dem primary season.

IMO, Hannity should keep the two on-topic, shut down ad hominem and straw-man arguments, and choose topics that allow DeSantis and Noisome to make clear what they are. If he does that effectively, it could set a pattern for the primary season and general election debates. That, at least, would be the potential. I doubt that Hannity or Noisome would reach that ideal.

If Noisome tries to attack DeSantis on abortion, he might be surprised with stronger answers than are given by tap-dancing-and-apologizing California Mo-o-o-oooderate Rs.

If the Democrats start really believing that Biden is in danger of losing, and they start seeing examples where the “MAGA republican”  charge is not working anymore, I fully expect them to dump Biden

There are dangers  to that. Historically, sitting presidents that have a serious primary challenge from their own party, have not gone on to win reelection.

I would love for him to have ran, another great conservative selection, probable would vote him over DeSantis. But Alas, I don't pull the strings it seems, and besides, if really given a choice, I would love Roy Moore over all of them.

If you don't see the pattern, it runs from conservative to more conservative to ultra God Fearing Conservative (a color palette that doesn't have "flip-flop pretend populace"** as an option).
