I don't turn on the tv.
Well, I make an exception... but only for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
During commercials, the sound is OFF, and I have my laptop open so I don't have to look at them.
But when WofF is done, I turn off the tv again.
There's only one television in the house -- none upstairs at all.
I don't need it any more.
@Fishrrman You have no idea what you are missing by not watching satellite tv. I have access to hundreds of channels and can watch any of them any time I want, day or night. Right now I am bing-watching the first few seasons of "Criminal Minds" because I missed them when they were first broadcast. Kinda freaky to see the usual cast I am used to watching, suddenly show up 20 years younger.
There is so much good programming at your fingertips 24/7 it is flat impossible to view it all. I am pretty much a shut-in at this time due to physical problems related to cancer and cancer treatment, and I know this because I have tried.
And the best news is,you will never miss a current program because you are watching an old program because it is there, any time you want it.
I have nothing against current programming, but am just too busy trying to watch shows I missed to pay any attention to it. Haven't even watched the news or other local programming in years, and I get the weather report any time I want it on my computer.
I do most of my shopping on my computer, too. It is a 45 minute drive to the nearest town to buy anything I might need or want, but I can order it from home from Amazon and have it delivered to my door. No more standing in line or circling a parking lot and waiting for a handicapped parking space to come free.
Hell,I even download free books to read on my tablet. I like to read while I am eating.
