Anti-cop NYC Councilwoman Tiffany Cabán pushes bill to protect sex workers

Cop-hating Queens Councilwoman Tiffany Cabán is pushing a new bill that would all but legitimize — and subsidize — the Big Apple’s illegal sex worker industry.

The Democratic socialist, a longtime advocate of decriminalizing sex work, introduced legislation that would grease the wheels for past and present prostitutes and other sex workers to easily receive taxpayer-funded assistance through nonprofits and other organizations while also making it illegal for them to be discriminated against by prospective landlords and others.

The bill also applies to strippers or anyone else who flaunts flesh legally to make a living.

“The city has a responsibility to protect the health, safety, and economic well-being of all New Yorkers regardless of what they do for a living, and let’s be clear: sex work is work,” said Cabán, while introducing the bill on Thursday’s Council meeting.

Cabán’s bill would force the Mayor’s Office of Equity to create a “sex-worker opportunity program” so that government grants could be funneled to community groups that work directly with sex workers to provide “economic support for mobility, health, housing, and social well-being.”

  Oh, yeah! What landlord with 1/8 of a brain wants prostitutes working out of his/her property and strippers doing their off-the-books "work" in their homes?

  Doing means-test income verification for prostitutes who are already breaking laws? And verifying compliance with workfare requirements?
