The ‘Genesis’ of today’s recruiting crisis
A new system and old medical records are slowing the influx of volunteers, recruiters say

The annals of U.S military valor feature scores of heroes who concealed part of their medical history to serve their country.

Consider President John F. Kennedy. As a young man, he suffered a host of painful, disqualifying physical ailments, such as back pain and ulcers, but leaned on his father’s connections to get around the required Navy medical exams.

Lt. Kennedy went on to command a patrol torpedo boat that a Japanese warship sheared in half during World War II, and he later received a Purple Heart and Navy and Marine Corps Medal.

In recent decades, the lies told to enlist haven’t approached those extremes.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

The military has more excuses for their inability to attract and keep people than Plains, Ga. has peanuts! :tongue2:

The weakness is that they use military folks to do the recruiting.  Today, it takes sales to sell anything.  Military folks are not salesmen.  If genuine salesmen were recruited to enlist folks into the military, we would be busting at the seams.

When the established methodology is NOT working, a smart person turns to a means to accomplish the end.

USE ACCOMPLISHED SALESMEN TO RECRUIT FOR THE MILITARY!!!
