🚨#UPDATE: Officials are reporting that three people have been injured with two of them being In critically condition. Police are reporting that they have multiple potential suspects in custody.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the perpetrators were some of the "disadvantaged youth" being served by this school.

Three people were reported wounded just before 1 p.m. Monday in shootings at Starts Right Here, an educational mentorship program at 455 S.W. Fifth St. in downtown Des Moines that helps at-risk youth.

Police spokesperson Paul Parizek said three people, one of them a teacher, were taken to hospitals, two in critical condition and one in serious condition.

Police about 1:20 p.m. stopped a vehicle and took "multiple" people into custody, Parizek said in a news release. He did not say whether they were suspected in the shooting. ...

Founded by local rapper and activist Will Holmes, whose stage name is Will Keeps, Starts Right Here is affiliated with Des Moines Public Schools. Along with the workout room and studio, the space provides educational courses, job-training skills and a safe hangout spot for Des Moines students.

Des Moines Police Chief Dana Wingert is on the Starts Right Here board, and Gov. Kim Reynolds is on an advisory board. Robert Cramer, co-president of an Iowa bridge construction company and who sits on the advisory board, referred the Register to Holmes for comment. Holmes could not immediately be reached. ...
