I gotta admit,I have always loved the style of those little cars,and came close to buying one more than once. The only reason I didn't was because I just needed more room in a car and I like having a trunk no one can see into.
@sneakypete Yeah me too - Since my 'go-getter' has been a minivan for ages now, those things are kinda a stylish mini-delivery.
It's just that they are such a piece of crap.
Got one once... A girlfriend fried the motor in hers and it wound up here... I had the intention of throwing it on a CJ frame with alllll the Chevy wonderfulness I would normally do to a CJ Jeep. So it would have wound up as an analog, lifted, 4x4 V8 with a full frame, sitting on 33s or 36s.
I think it would have been a peach.
But, that was one of the projects that never came to pass. A friend needed the Jeep, and the PT Cruiser wound up hauled off in one of my purges.
Too bad really. The PT Cruiser took a neat idea - kinda retro styled thing brought into modernity... If it had been well built and bent toward the hot-rod crowd instead, it might have become a cult classic.
