It’s safe to say most people are compelled to buy a hybrid or electric car because they wish to reduce their impact on the environment and climate.

Unfortunately, many don’t seem to be aware of an electric car’s poor lifetime carbon budget and wind up spending a lot of money doing very little or nothing good for the environment. [emphasis, links added]

We bought a Toyota Highlander V6 hybrid quite a while ago and the only reason we did was because it had significantly better gas mileage and more get up and go than the V6 only version. It went over 225k miles without a battery change. Carbon footprint wasn't a consideration at all.
