Biden’s 26th Drawdown Includes $400 Million in 'Additional U.S. Military Assistance' for Ukraine

On November 23, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the authorization of President Biden’s 26th Presidential Drawdown, which included $400 million in “additional U.S. Military assistance for Ukraine,” raising the total amount of assistance provided to $19 billion since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

This drawdown includes “additional arms, munitions, and air defense equipment from U.S. Department of Defense inventories,” reads a Nov. 23 State Department press release.

Secretary of State Blinken’s ability to authorize this drawdown comes from “a delegation of authority from the President,” said the State Department.

“We will continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes, so it can continue to defend itself and be the strongest possible position at the negotiating table when the time comes,” reads the press release.

The United States has now committed approximately $19.7 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the start of the Biden Administration in January 2021, $18 billion of which has been committed since Russia invaded Ukraine.
