CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) held a press conference in San Francisco on Wednesday where she said that “Republicans should be very, very, very scared” about their prospects in the upcoming midterm elections.
Pelosi made the remarks after she was asked about the Democrats’ “strong showing” in races on Tuesday, which included a special congressional election in New York state.
That election—to fill the vacated seat of Democratic Rep. Antonio DelGado, who left the House to become lieutenant governor of New York--was won by Democratic candidate Pat Ryan.
“We have 220 Democrats in the House,” Pelosi said at the press briefing. “Franklin Roosevelt had 319 Democrats in the House. So we have to do this very carefully, and I'm very proud, as I said, of the courage of our Members.”
“Republicans should be very, very, very scared this morning about their prospects,” Pelosi said. “I have never believed that we would not hold the House. That's my mission. And that's what I hope to accomplish, and I plan to do it.”
Here is a transcript of the question Pelosi was asked and how she answered it, including by stating “Republicans should be very, very, very scared:”
