Rational disagreement – It's your right!
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789
Art. 11. The free communication of thoughts and opinions is one of the most precious rights of man: every Citizen can therefore speak, write, print freely, if he accepts responsibility for any abuse of this freedom as defined by law.
Everyone has the right to question claims about climate disasters. That is the very definition of freedom of speech. And the scientific community agrees.
According to the publication of the National Academy of Sciences "Being a scientist":
"Science has advanced through the unique marriage of human creativity and ruthless skepticism, openness to new scientific contributions and persistence in questioning these contributions and existing scientific consensus." (translated)
The AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) is the largest scientific organization in the world, representing 24 disciplines. Its slogan is "to advance science, to serve society" and proposes a code of ethics document entitled "Scientific Freedom and Responsibility" by John T. Edsall (1975), stating:
