Rudy Giuliani was slapped by a worker at a ShopRite on Staten Island on Sunday while campaigning for his son, leaving the 78-year-old former New York City mayor shaken, the ex-pol told The Post.

Giuliani said he had just gotten out of the men’s room at the store on Veteran’s Road and was being greeted by a bunch of supporters when he was suddenly hit from behind — an incident caught on surveillance video obtained by The Post.

“All of a sudden, I feel this ‘Bam!’ on my back,” Giuliani said. “I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down, but I didn’t.

“I feel this tremendous pain in my back, and I’m thinking, what the — I didn’t even know what it was,” he said. “All of a sudden, I hear this guy say, ‘You’re a f–king scumbag,’ then he moves away so nobody can grab him.

“And he says, ‘You, you’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women. You’re gonna kill women,’ ” Giuliani said, quoting the suspect, who now faces assault charges. “‘You and your f–king friend are gonna kill women.’ Then he starts yelling out all kinds of, just curses, and every once in a while, he puts in that woman thing.

Giuliani's no spring chicken and doesn't seem all that stead on his feet so even something like that( I agree it doesn't look like much in the video) could cause surprise and old person to go down and then add the verbal abuse he heaped on Giuliani and it would appear that the intention was more than a pat on the back.

I can't say I disagree with him on this, the democrats are right back to inciting their mentally unbalanced followers to harass and attack conservatives, so I think that those attacked should press charges because there needs to be pushback.

A store employee walked up to him and took him to the side with more employees. You can see Rudy talking to him. That group to the side was keeping him from leaving.

Everyone that says it was a pat on the back can’t hear what the “pat” sounded like when the hand came in contact. You can see Rudy’s shoulder move forward. A pat does not cause your body to do that. The woman next to Rudy immediately looked over in concern.

The ShopRite worker arrested for allegedly hitting Rudy Giuliani on the back inside a Staten Island supermarket walked free from court Monday after his charges were downgraded.

Daniel Gill, 39, who was still dressed in his ShopRite uniform following his Sunday arrest, kept his head down and refused to answer questions as he left Staten Island Criminal Court after his arraignment Monday.

His charges were downgraded to third-degree assault, third-degree menacing, and second-degree harassment over the caught-on-camera attack inside the supermarket.

Gill, who had no priors, was initially charged with second-degree assault involving a person over age 65.

Judge Gerianne Abriano refused the Staten Island DA’s Office’s request for supervised release and instead let Gill go on his own recognizance.
