Alabama fugitive Casey White and corrections officer Vicky White are in custody, and she is hospitalized with injuries sustained in a chase, authorities said Monday at 6 p.m. ET. They were taken into custody after a chase in Evansville, Indiana, and their vehicle crashed, officials said.

FLORENCE, Ala. –  The days long manhunt for an escaped Alabama murder suspect Casey Cole White and the high-ranking jail guard, Vicky White, came to a close on Monday  – more than 10 days after the pair fled from the according to officials.

A U.S. Marshal Service spokesperson confirmed the news in an email to Fox News Digital Monday, acknowledging that Casey was in custody. Vicky was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Indiana law enforcement officials confirmed.

"Casey White and Vicky White are in custody," Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton confirmed to reporters during a press conference later on Monday. Law enforcement caught up to the couple in Evansville, Indiana, on Monday afternoon, when a police chase ensued, Singleton said.

The couple then crashed the vehicle, at which time Casey White surrendered and Vicky White was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

"What I’m very thankful for tonight is that no one was hurt. No citizens were hurt. No law enforcement officers were hurt as a result of this escape," Singelton went on.

Vicky and Casey White are not related, but share a "special relationship," according to Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton.

An Alabama murder suspect and the jail boss who helped him escape were captured on Monday after a 10-day long manhunt that ended after a car chase in Indiana, officials said.

Prison honcho Vicky White was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and inmate Casey Cole White was in custody after the pair were tracked down to a hotel after law enforcement received a citizen tip late last night, authorities told the press on Monday evening.

Evansville Sheriff Dave Wedding said the suspects fled in a black Cadillac when they were discovered, resulting in a chase.

During the high-speed pursuit, United States Marshall Services collided with the truck, causing the vehicle to crash.

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — After almost two weeks on the run, authorities say the manhunt for Casey White and Vicky White has ended in a police chase in Indiana.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said the chase resulted in a wreck and didn’t know why they were in Indiana.

Singleton said Casey White surrendered to police, and Indiana authorities confirmed Vicky White was taken to the hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Vanderburgh County Coroner Steven W. Lockyear said Vicky White died at 7 p.m. at Evansville Deaconess Midtown Hospital on Monday night. Her autopsy will be performed on Tuesday.

Former Alabama corrections officer Vicky White has died from her injuries after shooting herself while leading US Marshals on a car chase in Indiana.

Vicky and escaped murder suspect Casey White were captured Monday afternoon after an 11-day manhunt that spanned multiple states.

The pair were found at a motel and led authorities on a brief car chase in Evansville that lasted 'less than a few minutes,' according to Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding.

The dramatic multi-vehicle pursue came to a dramatic end when they careened off the road after law enforcement deployed a 'spike belt.'

Their car overturned and Casey White surrendered.

Vicky White, who was driving, shot herself at some point before she was captured and was taken to the hospital with 'very serious' injuries, Wedding said.

The Vandenburgh County Coroner said she died at 7.06pm on Monday, according to WHNT reporter Emily Moessner.

I'm having a hard time with the woman calling 911 during the chase. That is kind of goofy and shows me she is not at heart a criminal. I would think most criminals don't call 911 when in a police chase.

I also am having a problem with what seemed to be a pretty meticulous planned out escape...that didn't have a destination? Not that there is anything wrong with Indiana, but that just wouldn't be my destination. I know the borders must have been being watched (nod, nod, wink, wink) but this doesn't make a lot of sense.

WASHINGTON (AP) — It was about three hours after sheriff’s officials in Alabama realized a capital murder suspect and a senior jail official who had taken him for a mental health evaluation had disappeared when Sheriff Rick Singleton called in the U.S. marshals.

At first, law enforcement officials believed the suspect, Casey White, might have kidnapped Vicky White, the assistant director of corrections for Lauderdale County and a 17-year veteran of the sheriff’s office. (The two were not married or otherwise related.) But they quickly learned that her cover story was phony — the mental health evaluation was made up — and a manhunt began. ...

The investigators interviewed family members and coworkers, examined financial and other records and learned from other inmates that Vicky White had a “special relationship” with Casey and the two were involved in a “jailhouse romance,” officials have said. Weeks before the escape she sold her house for $95,000, far below the market value, sold her car and filed for retirement, Keely said. She had also bought an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun to add to her 9mm service weapon and a .45-caliber pistol investigators believe she had.

Other clues also emerged: She bought men’s clothes at a local Kohl’s store and had also visited a store that sold sex toys. ...
