U.S. Suffers Decline In Natural Gas Production, Cite Too Few Pipelines

The U.S. is seeing its natural gas production decrease as several countries around the world are looking for new energy suppliers due to sanctions imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

While the U.S. is the world’s largest producer of natural gas, the two regions of the country most productive of the energy resource — the Appalachians and West Texas — are seeing production growth diminish. [bold, links added]

Natural gas companies attribute the slowdown to a lack of adequate pipeline infrastructure.

Fuel prices had already begun to surge last fall, and following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, they have increased even further.

Damn you to Hell, Demon Methane!

Undoing the last 10,000 years of Human Progress is the least Big Global Climate Change can do to achieve nothing.

What if we eliminate all man-made greenhouse gases only to have the Earth's climate changed by asteroid strikes, volcanoes, or astrophysic dynamics?

The Pipelines are very fragile, If you don't sell any gas, you have no income. So what do you do to make money? You must increase the pressure, then some else doesn't make money. I goes on and on till the pipeline explodes do to over pressure. Remember all U.S. gas well's take gas that can move miles underground, So if you don't sell it your neighbor will.  Gas is not like Oil!
I have 20 years experience in Gas well investments this happens all the time.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

I'm not sure what reservoirs you have been dealing with, but unconventional resources are known for tight reservoirs, which is why fraccing is needed to get decent production. While, theoretically, gas can move miles underground, the communication between wells in unconventional reservoirs is low enough that wellbores just 1500 feet apart don't frac into each other, even though they are in the same target zone. I have 42 years experience on drilling rigs, and 22 of those were doing horizontal wells in unconventional reservoirs. Similar observations have been made by colleagues who were involved heavily in the coalbed methane play, where wells in production did not significantly affect the IPs of adjacent new wells.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
