Washington Football Team announces 'Commanders' as new team name

The NFL team formerly known as Washington Football Team unveiled its new name on Tuesday with much fanfare.

In a video posted to Twitter, the team announced that it will now go by the "Washington Commanders."

The highly anticipated rebrand of the team name comes after it faced backlash against its longstanding "Redskins" nickname, which critics said was racist.

For the past two years, the team has simply gone by "Washington Football Team."

Commanders?  Their mascot better be a black-asian-hispanic crippled transgendered "they" dressed as a yacht club commodore, or there will be heck to pay.

Based upon the city they represent and their on-field performance, "Dingleberries" would be a more appropriate team name.

It was reported today that the Washington team has chosen its new mascot...General George Custer.
