New Zealand’s government acknowledged Monday what most other countries did long ago: It can no longer completely get rid of the coronavirus.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced a cautious plan to ease lockdown restrictions in Auckland, despite an outbreak there that continues to simmer.

Despite New Zealand going into the strictest form of lockdown after just a single local case was detected, it ultimately wasn’t enough to crush the outbreak entirely.

The outbreak has grown to more than 1,300 cases, with 29 more detected on Monday. A few cases have been found outside of Auckland.

Aren't we pretty much agreed this virus will not be 100% eradicated? Can't imagine why the PM might have thought that was possible.

The mRNA jab renders it impossible to eradicate the virus.  Without it, SARS-2 would have gone the same route as SARS-1.

Presumably, Covid has an animal host, a bat, so they tell us.

If this is truly the case, we can never eradicate it.
Like the flu (Bird flu, swine flu).
You cannot possibly kill or vaccinate all the animal kingdom.

Smallpox and polio were stopped because those needed a human host to survive.

Let the damned thing run its course and focus on those most at-risk.

And then stop playing nice with the ultimate cause of this mess:  China.

China should be treated as an international pariah on the level of North Korea until it agrees to make all of its biological facilities subject to unannounced international inspection.

It was incredibly stupid to think they could isolate themselves from it indefinitely. Eventually you pay the piper. The sooner you do the less economic and social damage is done.
