Scrap metal worth $2 million stolen from New Mexico base, Army says

Army CID agents are investigating the theft of approximately 130 tons of nickel ball bearings from White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, Army Times has confirmed.

A recently-unsealed federal search warrant requested by CID special agent Lucas Coulter offers details about the alleged crime. Army Times accessed the warrant request via public court records.

CID’s investigation began in late March after a source told investigators that an Army civilian employee, Randolph Brady, “illegally removed metals owned by the Department of the Army in order to recycle them for a profit,” Coulter said in the warrant.

It's not really his fault, though.  Global Warming had seized his brain and made him do it. *****rollingeyes*****

That goober didnn't pull this off by himself. He had people paid off to look the other way,not to mention people paid to operate the equipment to load his truck using military equipment.

MY guess is he has already ratted out everybody involved, and the Army CID is already investigating them and drawing up warrants.

This ain't sneaking small items out in a lunch box.

How the HELL these people figured they were going to get away with it is a mystery to me,unless the base commander or some people VERY close to the base commander were in on it,and then a new base commander took over and their House of Cards was exposed.

It seems to me when MPs and Marines were replaced by rent-a-guards at the gates, security has taken a big hit.  Why they keep the rent-a-guards is beyond me.

Some powerful congresscritter owed the owner of a security company a favor. Or even money, and paid him off with a goobermint contract.

That's six semi loads of ball bearings....(45,000 lbs freight weight).

I'm inclined to agree...not the only one in on it, and waaay too much to take out in a lunchbox.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Some high ranking officer (like Gen. Milley) could order some heavy hauler helos in to pick up a bunch of unmarked crates and deliver them somewhere else.  And if the crew were told this is hush, hush, no tell material, it would be no problem. :pondering:
