Allies round on US over Afghanistan 'debacle'

Allies and critics alike on Monday condemned the United States over its 20-year NATO campaign in Afghanistan, with a leading German politician slamming the operation as "the biggest debacle" in the alliance's history.

Stunned by the Taliban's lightning advance across the country after the departure of Western troops, NATO allies have been left scrambling to evacuate their nationals as well as vulnerable Afghans.

The Taliban's return to power and chaotic scenes of people desperately seeking to flee Kabul on Western military aircraft have sparked criticism of the two-decade operation, which cost the alliance thousands of lives and over a trillion dollars.

Chancellor Angela Merkel said the US-led NATO operation achieved less than planned, adding she shared the pain of families of soldiers killed "as it seems right now like it was all in vain".

The deployment effectively ended Al-Qaeda's ability to launch another operation on the scale of its September 11, 2001 attack on the United States, but "everything else that has followed has not been as successful and has not been achieved in the way that we had planned", Merkel said.

Lessons must be drawn, she said.

"You also have to set smaller goals, I think, in such missions."

The Taliban's return to power was "particularly dramatic and terrible", she said.

"It is terrible for the millions of Afghans who had worked for a freer society and who, with the support of the Western community, have focused on democracy, on education, on women's rights," she said..........

........."It is the biggest debacle that NATO has suffered since its founding," said Armin Laschet, who is the conservative candidate to succeed Merkel as chancellor in September's election.....................

Britain asks: Is America back or has it turned its back?

The humiliation of the lightning Taliban takeover in Afghanistan after a 20-year war that cost hundreds of thousands of lives has raised a question for the United States' staunchest European ally: Is America really back as President Joe Biden promised?

Britain fears the Taliban's return and the vacuum left by the West's chaotic withdrawal will allow militants from al Qaeda and Islamic State to gain a foothold in Afghanistan, just 20 years after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace cast the 2020 Doha withdrawal accord struck by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration as a "rotten deal". Wallace said Biden's decision to leave Afghanistan was a mistake that had enabled the Taliban to re-emerge in power.

Such questioning and such emotion - Wallace was on the brink of tears in one interview - is rare for Washington's closest European ally, which has stood by the United States in almost every major conflict since World War Two apart from Vietnam.........

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

You can't blame them for being upset. Most have troops deployed to all over the world because the US asked them to help out,and they trusted the US to not pull out and leave them hanging

And here they go pulling out without a word of warning to any of the allies they convinced to help us.

No, not blaming them at all @sneakypete

I posted these articles relating the destruction that China Joe is creating.  At the summit meeting earlier this year Joe's dementia was commented on and a diplomat from Australia commented how out of it he was, even chuckling.

He was an embarrassment then.  Now he is an absolute liability!

Who is going to trust us and will remain our ally??  He has sunk our Republic, our reputation and put a target on our backs!

I still wonder who is truly pulling the strings?  China?? Soros?? Who??

Anybody who can get the ear of Jill or his other handlers.

Truth to tell,Joe is little more than a hand puppet. He will say and do anything he is told to say and do by Jill. As for who is controlling Jill,I suspect it is anyone with the bucks to gain access.

IMHO, the US missed an opportunity to hand the (massed, convoyed) Taliban its ass from the air when all those maggots came scuttling out of the woodwork to advance on the major cities.

(Just like the opportunity to devastate the NVA columns moving South was squandered in Vietnam).

The only time we got that right was Kuwait. These dumbasses cant even learn from success.

Are these the same EuroLand allies who dumped hate on President Trump and wanted LIEden to be President? They got what they "prayed" for, an arrogant incompetent Cluster-F-er!
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.
