New Zealand transexual weightlifter Laurel Hubbard failed to record a single successful lift in the women’s +87kg weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday morning, crashing out of the competition in the process.

A failed attempt to lift 120kg and two failed efforts at 125kg in the snatch meant Hubbard had his Olympics ended early.

Hubbard came closest on the second attempt, getting the bar above his head and appearing to get credit for the 125 kg snatch. But the jury ruled it was not to be.

That left him with another attempt at 125 kg, but she struggled to stand and dropped the bar behind her. Hubbard waved to the crowd, making a heart with his hands (see below).

On one hand, he didn't affect medal standings. On the other, there is a woman in New Zealand who should be in Tokyo instead of him.

Some 3,000 years past, Ancient Greece created the Olympic Games;
consisting of Running, Wrestling and Weight Lifting competitions for soldiers.
Now it has metastasized into a carnival/circus for assorted deviants
desperate for attention while displaying idiotic abilities irrelevant to reality.

I'm agreeing here.

I've posted some rants about "Demonstration Sports" that require judges with sticks up their butt to decide winners and losers.

Give me a real sport, measured by a score on a board, or by the length of time it takes to complete a specific task.  Fie on figure skating and gymnastics!  Not Oly-worthy contests of strength.  MHO.
