On Wednesday afternoon, 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump announced his imminent departure to meet with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border, which Trump believes is being “destroyed” by an influx of illegal aliens.

“Heading to the Southern Border, which has never, in our Country’s long history, been worse,” Trump wrote in a statement appearing on gab.com shortly before 1:30 p.m. EDT. “We had the most successful Border policy in American history—and now we have, by far, the least successful policy. People are coming in by the millions. They are destroying our Country! See you soon.”

Approximately 23 minutes later, his spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, tweeted, “President Trump speaking now! He delivered the most secure border in history, all Biden had to do was nothing, and, apparently quoting from Trump’s comments, “All they had to do was go to the beach, and it would have been fine. All they had to do was do nothing.”

In early January, Trump was banned from all major social-media sites; however, C-Span covered the event.

Speaking first, the entry of the deadly drug fentanyl into his state, Abbott said, has experienced a “2000% increase,” according to the Texas Department of Safety (DPS).

On June 1, Trump endorsed Abbott for his re-election bid in 2022. During the presser, Abbott praised Trump for the work his administration accomplished on border-related issues, including building a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

To address the overwhelming numbers of illegals entering Texas, at the end of May Abbott declared a state of emergency. The order was amended on June 25 reducing the number of counties affected by the influx.

Those in attendance included Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tom Homan; Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick; former DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf; former White House physician Ronny Jackson, now a Texas congressman; and a number of law enforcers. Several sheriffs spoke, with the Brooks County sheriff reporting “bodies recovered” as a result of the influx of illegals. Dramatic increases in “smuggling,” “sexual assault” and “911 calls,” among others, have been recorded, he said.

Also present was Indiana Rep. Jim Banks.
