Booster may be needed for J&J shot as Delta variant spreads

Some infectious disease experts have already 'boosted' with Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna

-Infectious disease experts are weighing the need for booster shots of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna mRNA-based vaccines for Americans who received Johnson & Johnson's one-dose vaccine due to the increasing prevalence of the more contagious Delta coronavirus variant

A few say they have already done so themselves, even without published data on whether combining two different vaccines is safe and effective or backing from U.S. health regulators. Canada and some European countries are already allowing people to get two different COVID-19 shots.

The debate centers on concerns over how protective the J&J shot is against the Delta variant first detected in India and now circulating widely in many countries. Delta, which has also been associated with more severe disease, could quickly become the dominant version of the virus in the United States, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky has warned.

Boosters for vaccines are hardly unprecedented. Pfizer and Moderna, IIRC, are both testing boosters or updates, but on a "Be prepared" basis. At this point, no need for boosters for any of the Covid vaccines has been demonstrated, and the three currently authorized vaccines in use in the US have all been shown to be effective against known variants (as is Novavax's, BTW, for which EUA will soon be requested).

I am not and never have been a leftist.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

I volunteered for such a study. It is not only looking at the immune reaction of a booster (which may or may not include new variants), but also a "mix and match" study. They needed volunteers who had completed their Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J doses in between certain dates, and were going to give an additional Moderna jab. I was Moderna, and tolerated it well, so no big deal to volunteer IMO, but when they called they already had enough Moderna participants and were only looking for Pfizer and J&J volunteers at that point.

Follow the money.  Find out who is on the Pfizer payroll here.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Jim Jones was a socialist Democrat.

Pfizer probably has production facilities and R & D facilities all over the US. So they probably have thousands of employees in the US. Maybe you could be more specific as to "here"?

We have no evidence it is any less effective than, for example, the AstraZeneca regimen. Past data showed that J&J did as well with one dose as AZ did for two. It's a different technology.

Besides, "boosting" with current vaccine formulations that aren't designed for the purportedly more dangerous variants is just redundant and silly.
