Senate Republicans pitch $928 billion infrastructure offer
By Alexander Bolton - 05/27/21 09:58 AM EDT

Senate Republicans on Thursday unveiled a $928 billion infrastructure proposal that includes $506 billion for roads, bridges and major projects and $98 billion for public transit systems.

The latest offer is substantially more than the $568 billion infrastructure framework the group led by Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) introduced in April, but it’s still far short of the $1.7 trillion counteroffer that White House officials came back with last week.

The one-page summary released by Republicans doesn’t include any new detail on how Republicans would pay for the plan, which remains a major sticking point with the White House, which wants to raise corporate tax rates from 21 percent to 28 percent, undoing a core part of former President Trump's tax-cut bill from 2017.

The Devil is in the details...if the offer IS 100% genuine infrastructure with no change to the 2017 tax cuts...I'm all for it. Of course, if that's the case, Biden and the Left will never support its...so its a bit of a moot point.  If, on the other hand, they jacked it up to 928 by conceding a bunch of liberal BS payoffs and non-infrastructure garbage...than hell f'ing no.

Republicans Fold Like a Cheap Suit and Prepare to Hand Joe Biden His Top Priority

After months of Joe Biden and his handlers beating the drum of “infrastructure,” a term that has been rendered completely meaningless, Republicans have decided that folding like a cheap suit is the right move. The GOP is preparing a $1 trillion counter-proposal which will serve as the next step toward a “compromise.”

The key line in the article is this "Besides, any massive infrastructure package will simply be a giveaway to special interests." If that's correct, than I'd hope every Republican opposes this mess...which is going to pass anyway via Reconciliation but at least we'll be on the right side of the argument. That said, we've yet to see what the GOP is countering with in specific terms...as I said above...if its ALL true infrastructure (roads, bridges, airports, power grid, etcetera) than I'm for it. I highly doubt that's what it is but the truth is we DO need genuine infrastructure investment...we don't need anything like what is included as 95% of the Dems proposal. I don't see a deal being remotely close here...because the Dems are never going to give up a trillion dollars in bacon and payoffs.
