The New Braunfels City Council meeting got a little wild last night

Katie Friel  9 hrs ago

It was a battle of NIMBYs versus developers during this week's meeting of the New Braunfels City Council. On Monday, May 10, an ordinary council meeting transformed into a nearly six-hour debate between the past and future of this San Antonio suburb, with heated exchanges between the public and dais.

In between administering police chief oaths, pledging allegiance to the Texas flag,  and other small-town business, were four agenda items dealing with rezoning, including construction of a doctors' office. While all items were met with vocal disapproval from residents in attendance, it was one item — Item H — that caused tempers to flare.

Item H would rezone a fin-shaped portion of the town between East Common Street, Old FM 306, and Waterway Lane into a mixed-use development with 200-plus apartments, according to documents filed with the city.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

When government suppresses the building of housing, stagnant supply and increasing demand cause prices to rise. Decades impeding development and milking money from developers are the root causes of the SF Bay Area's insane housing prices.

I've had wars with developers, and they mostly wished they never met me.

Case in point....   Never play bureacracy with a guy who had a 40 year career of dealing with bureacrats.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
