Biological fathers in Utah are now legally required to help pay for the medical costs associated with pregnancy and delivery if the biological mother requests it.

House Bill 113, sponsored by Rep. Brady Brammer and Sen. Daniel McCay, was signed by Gov. Spencer Cox this week.

The measure requires fathers pay 50% of a mothers insurance premiums while she is pregnant and other pregnancy-related medical costs, including hospital birth of the child, that aren't paid by another person.
