I don't wear a mask when I'm walking in public, nor do at least half of the people that are out. We follow the protocols otherwise, such as wearing a mask into a restaurant.
I'll be damned if I'm going to wear a mask when I pick up my grandson after school, or when I take the dog for a walk.
Another perspective: Gonzaga's first game in front of fans occurred on 12/26 in Fort Worth. Players' families outside of Texas flew in to see their sons play in person. Arena personnel set up a restricted area after the game for a meet and greet. Every player I spoke with was blown away by how we were handling Covid in Texas, as opposed to the draconian measures they faced in Washington.
Since that game, not one player for the Zags has tested positive for Covid. The Zags had their pause earlier in December for about a week, but they've been rockin' since then.
I did get some blowback from some Zag fans who don't live in Texas. I posted a couple of pictures that we took, and these folks didn't like the fact the masks came off long enough for pictures to be taken. Personally, I thought these were just a couple of some really great pictures...still do.
Both of the players will likely be drafted in the first round later this year: Corey Kispert and Jalen Suggs. We've known Corey for over 3 years, he's a fine young man. He's likely to earn a rare honor: first team All America and first team Academic All American. Of the last 6 to accomplish that feat, 3 have come from Gonzaga: Kelly Olynyk, Dan Dickau, and Nigel Williams-Goss.
