Schumer says he will fire Senate sergeant-at-arms once Dems take control

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he plans on firing Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mike Stenger when Democrats take control of the upper chamber later this month after pro-Trump rioters overran the Capitol Wednesday.

“If Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Stenger hasn't vacated the position by then, I will fire him as soon as Democrats have a majority in the Senate," Schumer, who is set to become the Senate majority leader, said in a statement to The Hill.

The article in The SHill gives no explanatory info, perhaps having none. The SaA of the Senate, the SaA of the House, and the Architect of the Capitol are the Capitol Police Board (the Capitol Police Captain is a non-voting member), though how much they are involved in daily operations of the Capitol Police, :shrug: . This looks like a political scapegoating for the Capitol Police's apparent less than stellar performance yesterday.

* The House SaA has resigned;

* Capitol Police Chief Sund has resigned;

* Three days before the riot, the DoD asked the Capitol Police if they wanted National Guard assistance; the offer was declined;

* As the mob was moving toward the Capitol the FBI offered the Capitol Police assistance from available agents; the offer was declined.

I doubt this is the full depth of the leadership incompetence, but it looks possible that the Dems' and their MSM shills' politicization of the riot prevention measures last June made the Capitol Police afraid of the political consequences of taking decisive action.

As I believe Smokin' Joe said first in the forum, how many windows did they smash on their walk towards the Capitol? How many cars did they burn? How many bystanders did they assault?
