Rose Bowl denied a special exemption from California to allow fans into College Football Playoff

The Rose Bowl was denied a special exemption from the state of California to allow a few hundred fans to attend the College Football Playoff semifinal Jan. 1, putting the game being played in Pasadena, California, in serious doubt.

A person involved with organizing the game told The Associated Press the Tournament of Roses' request was denied earlier this week.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Rose Bowl and College Football Playoff were still finalizing a plan for what to do with the game. A decision was expected before the playoff teams are selected Sunday, the person said.

If the game is moved, a likely site would be AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  .  .  .

The game will be played at Jerry World.

A bit O/T, #1 Gonzaga will play Virginia on 12/26 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Kudos to both programs for scheduling this game on short notice. 

I had two road trips canceled thanks to Covid. Zags were to play UT in Austin, and Texas Tech in Phoenix. Saturday's game makes up for that.

Texas is one of a few states allowing limited fan attendance at sporting events...God Bless Texas!

Not sure why Notre Dame is playing in this game.  Other than Clemson, their opponents were a combined 32-60, and includes all five ACC teams with losing records.  I would rather see Texas A&M, Cincinnati, or Oklahoma.

Same. But they're never letting Cincinnati in. (See the case of UCF from a few years ago.) If it ain't Power Five, it ain't gettin' in.

But yay, another year, another playoff where we're graced with Alabama and Clemson YET AGAIN. *****rollingeyes*****

Why is Ohio State there when they played only 6 games?

A lot of teams won more games then they did.

Once again, a mockery of the college football championship is exposed.
