Law Enforcement Today by: Pat Droney December 19, 2020

The following editorial is written by a retired Chief of Police and current staff writer for Law Enforcement Today. This is a theoretical piece and in no way advocates for the secession of any states from the United States of America.

Over the past six weeks, and going back much longer, our current system of governance has been under attack. However, the last six weeks have proven that our system is broken and, as of December 11, 2020, confirmed as broken beyond repair.

This month, the Supreme Court of the United States disregarded the voting rights of over 73 million people. I say this not because my side “lost,” I say it because it is the truth.

First, let us face the facts. If the current situation was reversed, and what was being done to President Trump was instead being done to Joe Biden, you can pretty much guarantee that our cities would be in flames, people would be getting pulled from cars and beaten, and police officers would be under assault. Luckily and fortunately, “our side” does not resort to such tactics.

Over the past year, Democrats have filed hundreds of lawsuits to change voting systems in numerous states, all in violation of Article II of the United States Constitution.

Article II, for those not familiar with it, sets the ground rules for how electors, the people who meet and “elect” the president and vice president of the United States, are so appointed. That power is vested in the legislatures of the states…period.

Once Democrats saw an opportunity, presented to them on a silver platter by China in the form of the coronavirus, they had their chance. You see, even though nowhere in the Constitution is there a “pandemic exception” to that document, COVID-19 presented a perfect chance to use “health and safety” as a means to subvert the Constitution, and with it, the voting laws.
