Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford both took a knee during the playing of the national anthem on Thanksgiving Day.

The Lions and the Texans are playing the first of a scheduled two-game slate of NFL action on Thanksgiving Day. Though, before any action took place on the field, Stafford and Watson were spotted kneeling during the anthem.

Stafford revealed why he chose to protest during the anthem back in September.

“Just felt like it was the right thing at the right time,” he said in September via MLive. “Obviously it’s been an amazing offseason just for our team, for a lot of people, something where there’s been great opportunity for growth and learning and understanding, and just felt like it was the right thing for me.”

Despite the relative lack of publicity the protests drew in 2016 and 2017, anthem protests have been a constant throughout the year. However, as the league’s television ratings began to suffer, networks stopped broadcasting the protests, and beat reporters stopped tweeting photos of the protests.

The league has embraced the player protests with public shows of support from Commissioner Roger Goodell, hundreds of millions of dollars spent on social justice issues, and social justice-themed commercials and on-field messaging.

I don't know them, but then they need to leave this country, if they don't appreciate her or their MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACTS.  Such fools.  Would they make this money in Africa?   Maybe by doing some slave trading.......Uganda.
P.S. I made an assumption.  Was I correct?  I see, one of them can't even articulate why, they kneel.  'It was good for...him"?

Couldn't it be possible that both teams lose? It will be interesting to see what happens when these clowns start playing in front of large crowds again. Which I hope (large crowds) never happens.

LOL!  Maybe their Facebook feeds look like mine...chuck full of videos of cops who've never heard or understand the 4th Amendment.

I keep seeing videos of police who think because they wear a uniform that they can demand ID on a whim, from citizens who, while aggravating in their filming of police stations and traffic stops on public property are constantly being harassed.

I'm thinking this may be the basis for their protests during the Anthem, for these videos certainly don't portray The Thin Blue Line is a positive light all the time.

Yeah, I've run into a cop or two who was nastier than he had to be for my terrible crime (traffic violation), but what does that have to do with them, athletes, kneeling for a false belief i.e. overwhelming police brutality directed at blacks for no reason whatsoever other than racism?

Not the actual crimes committed.   

About 14 % do 70% of all crime.  A black prosecutor wants to know what is wrong with his people.  CHICAGO, ILL.  CHICAGO TRIBUNE 2012.  Every thug, they rioted FOR, had priors or felons already.  33 for Gardner with outstanding warrants, who died a week later in hospital from obesity, not 'choke' hold.  300+ pounds.  18 prior for that kid, who was selling drugs after neck/back surgery.  Swallowed his whole stash, so police would not find it. Went nuts inside, police wagon. Mike Brown?  Priors, one was for killing a young white girl at age 16.  ALL ARE INNOCENTS.  s/

Dallas Cowboys are giving the Lions and the Jets for worst run franchise in pro football.

A bit O/T, but I'm breathing a sigh of relief over Gonzaga's response to recent events. Their "unity badge" strikes the right chord IMO.
