Downtown Madison not safe following unrest in city, sheriff reportedly says

A Wisconsin sheriff reportedly said the downtown Madison area was not safe Wednesday after a turbulent few days that included violent protesters vandalizing buildings, toppling statues and attacking a state senator.

Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney said his agency stands ready to deploy additional resources to assist in handling any new protests. More than one hundred demonstrators gathered in Madison again on Wednesday night, according to Madison's WMTV.

The recent violence prompted Gov. Tony Evers to activate the National Guard.

Both Evers and Mahoney have been criticized for their early responses to these protests. Mahoney defended his department's response to the violent outbreak Tuesday and said that by the time his deputies assembled the violence had mostly ceased, WKOW reported. City officials said the earlier firebombing of the City County Building had disrupted a 911 response center, which temporarily prevented incoming 911 calls.

"That is not the behavior that advances reforms in our country," Mahoney said. He said he supported most of the protesters' message against police brutality but said violence could impact their efforts.

Black Lives Matter protesters toppled a statue of an abolitionist and beat up an openly gay state senator, while a Milwaukee mob set fire to a home and injured several police and a firefighter.

MADISON — Wisconsin’s two largest cities were awash in violence Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning as “peaceful” Black Lives Matter protesters in Madison toppled iconic, progressive statues and beat up an openly gay state senator, while a Milwaukee mob set fire to a home and injured several police and a firefighter.

Wisconsin is out of control, and it is reaping the lawless fruit that pandering liberals have sown.

Long after the carnage quieted and state Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) was recovering from his many injuries by the mob that badly beat him, the feckless Gov. Tony Evers “warned” he would send in the National Guard to protect state buildings. Too late.

By the time Tony decided he might get tough, protesters had torn down and destroyed the two legendary statues that have long guarded the State Capitol. They ripped down and soiled the famous, seven-foot Forward statue, a proud symbol of progress created by a Wisconsin female artist nearly 130 years ago.

Then they proceeded to drag down and decapitate a statue of Hans Christian Heg, a Union colonel who fought and died in the Civil War in large part because he abhorred slavery. They dumped what was left of the statue in Lake Monona. All in the name of “social justice”?

The trouble began when police dared to arrest a Black Lives Matter “activist” who decided to charge into a downtown Madison restaurant with a baseball bat and a bullhorn screaming at white patrons and accusing them of being racist.

Two Women Arrested For Beating Wisconsin State Senator During June Riot

Back in June, protesters went on a riot binge in Madison, Wisconsin. They toppled statues, including one honoring abolitionist Hans Christian Heg. He died fighting for the Union, to abolish slavery, during the Civil War. They toppled his statue. The rioters also toppled a statue literally dedicated to human progress, called, appropriately enough, “Forward.”

Wisconsin state Sen. Tim Carpenter (D) happened upon the riot that night in June and stopped to take video with his cell phone.

Rioters surrounded the gay, far-left Democrat and beat him.

A little over a month later, two women turned themselves in to police for beating Carpenter.
