NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie’s No. 32 racecar is getting a new look. Starting Sunday, the car will debut a patriotic color scheme emblazoned with a political message: Trump 2020.

LaJoie's team, Go Fas Racing, announced a partnership with the pro-Trump Patriots of America PAC on Wednesday. The design will premiere at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and be used in the following eight races throughout the remainder of the season. LaJoie’s car previously sported a smaller “Trump 2020” logo on the rear of his car.

The Lajoies originally hail from Norwalk, CT, and the patriarch of the family, Don, was usually a top finisher at the old Danbury Fair Racearena for many years (1/3 mile track for a closed club). I spent many Saturday nights there. I may still have a program from those days in my archives somewhere.

The Racearena closed with the Danbury Fair in 1981, and there's a mall there today.

Then Randy (his son, I believe, or his nephew?) came along, got into the NASCAR, and things began to change.

Back in the 70's when I needed a part for my old VW camper, I could sometimes find it at the Lajoie Brothers junkyard down in South Norwalk...
