Trump calls for 'new justices' on Supreme Court after unfavorable rulings
By Brett Samuels - 06/18/20 01:33 PM EDT

President Trump on Thursday escalated his criticism of the Supreme Court after a pair of rulings this week against his administration, calling for new justices to be appointed and pledging to release a new list of potential nominees ahead of November's election.

"The recent Supreme Court decisions, not only on DACA, Sanctuary Cities, Census, and others, tell you only one thing, we need NEW JUSTICES of the Supreme Court," Trump tweeted just hours after the court ruled against his move to rescind deportation protections for young undocumented immigrants.

I don’t know whether it’s a good idea to publish a list of SCOTUS candidates in advance. It gives the rats time to concoct a strategy in detail to oppose each one they can trot out immediately after their nomination. And we’ve already seen how slow the GOP is to respond to the left’s attacks.

I‘m tempted to agree with you. But, I do have to remind myself sometimes that the ground rules haven’t changed for Trump; it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Imagine trying to navigate that mine field and still succeed at your job.

Ted Cruz should have been on the court. Listen to his judgment on the court’s constitutional role.
