How about a classically misinterpreted song----which shouldn't have been mis-interpreted if you had ears and heard the line about "While I in an effort to babysit" (which can be mis-heard as "While I endeavour to babysit")---the singer wrote for his manager Gordon Mills's little daughter, for whom he babysat now and then before he hit big for awhile . . .
Gilbert O'Sullivan, "Clair"
Error 404 (Not Found)!!1Mills himself played the song's memorable harmonica solo.
And that line about "Will you marry me, Uncle Ray?" That was little Clair Mills's way to address O'Sullivan, whose real name is Raymond.
If anything was sad, it was when O'Sullivan fell out with Mills a few years later---over Mills's excessive grip on Sullivan's songs, finally forcing O'Sullivan to take him to court and won over under-reported and unpaid songwriting royalties which made O'Sullivan a nice fortune.
Gilbert O'Sullivan and Clair Mills met again many years later. To this day she's fond of him and the song she inspired.
