That's not true.
First of all, the vaccine being developed is using only a portion of the virus that so far is common to all known strains. Second of all, that study that claimed 30 strains managed to find all 30 in only 11 people. It's a classic example of Chinese disinformation that's run rampant since this virus was unleashed.
Yes, it is true.
Fast morphing viruses are consistently the cause of spring sicknesses, and corona is one of them. The many variants of flu also included... The impossibility comes from their constant ability and tendency to morph quickly.
That is why there is no real and consistent cure for influenza and/or the common cold, and a handful of others that plague humanity year after year.
That is a salvation, after a fashion too... the tendency for fast morphing viruses is to morph consistently toward the more benign... Harder strains tend to kill themselves out by killing their hosts, and more benign strains tend over time to dominate, thus more benign morphing tends to move to the fore.
That may in fact have somewhat to do with the reason why the west coast is not getting it in the teeth like the east coast is.
But the rule of thumb that will continue to govern my thoughts in this is that if they were able to create a cure, the common cold would have long since been eradicated. Thus I will continue to doubt news which offers a silver bullet. 9 chances out of 10, it's vaporware.
Now, no doubt the advantage in $$ goes to those who can create the illusion of a cure, and I expect buckets of money waiting in the wings get shoveled in on every rumor. But reality, I would bet, is far different from that.
Makes no real difference to me - I won't be taking any vaccine anyway, no matter what.
