Dump Biden: Majority of Democrats Want Cuomo to Be Their Nominee for President
By Rick Moran April 10, 2020

In this unprecedented election year, everything is on the table and nothing should be taken for granted. In that vein, the idea of replacing the leading Democratic candidate for president is not as far-fetched as it normally would be.

Joe Biden was the nominal choice of Democrats to become the party's nominee. But as Biden struggles to remain relevant during the coronavirus pandemic, and Bernie Sanders supporters lick their wounds, many Democrats are casting about desperately looking for an alternative.

A majority think they've found one in New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo has received doting, even loving coverage from the national press for what he's done during the coronavirus crisis. This is something of a mystery because New York has three times the number of infections and five times the number of deaths as other states. The second-worst state is New Jersey, but I don't hear a groundswell of support for president for Democratic Governor Phil Murphy.

I can see a lot of people in my tri state area writing in Cuomo’s name on the mail in ballots.

As for Murphy, welL, I don’t think he even wants that job.

I just saw a headline that Cuomo has ruled out replacing Biden on the ticket, so maybe that idea is quashed.

He remembers what happened to JFK Jr.

In 2016, once Donald Trump had secured the nomination, NeverTrump rallied around Mayor McMuffin and libertarian candidates Johnson/Weld.  This is common in politics.  I'd rather see Cuomo on the rat ticket but he didn't run.  Biden is a mess, and his only saving grace is his GOP opponent.

Hmmm...
Seems like a lot of "displaced New Yorkers" end up in Florida. And although their bodies are relocated, much of their politics remain as they were "up north".

But no matter.
Cuomo (or ANY other democrat-communist candidate) is not and never was expected to win "in the South". That's a straw man argument, and you knew this when you posted it.

All he would have to do is win all the blue states that voted for Hillary in 2016. That's a CERTAINTY with the exception of perhaps Minnesota, where Mr. Trump came pretty close. If he's able to flip Florida (a possibility), and Wisconsin and Michigan (also possible), he could be "there".

I'm kind of amazed at the number of Briefers here who can't see how Cuomo could replace Biden. Even the democrat-communists in charge must be appalled at seeing Biden's appearances as of late...

Addendum:
If not Cuomo, perhaps Newsome out in California could be persuaded to take the spot...

That's an interesting take thanks for posting it @Fishrrman

After 2016 I'd never say never, but I think a power struggle for the DNC nomination would likely result in a DNC loss in Nov.  I assume other people with a more vested interest in the outcome can see it too.

I don't believe that for a second.

He did this when he first ran for governor, too. Insisted he wasn't going to be the nominee, but behind the scenes started the whisper campaign until the incumbent (the unpopular David Paterson, Eliot Spitzer's lieutenant) withdrew. Then, boom: instant frontrunner.
