Ah, but your criticism overlooks the fact that Cuomo is speaking the real-world version of Newspeak, in which, unlike Orwell's fictional totalitarian language, instead of rationally narrowing the meanings of words so that only the Party's ideas can be expressed, instead overloads words and phrases with extra meanings, with the meaning shifting at need to suit the Party's interests -- same purpose different method.  So when Cuomo originally said it, by "climate change" he mean anthropogenic-greenhouse-gas-induced-global-warming, but now that you've called him on it, "climate change" has its English denotation, and don't you know?... the climate has always been changing... and you must be a climate change denier to criticize him.

It's kind of a toss-up... as to whether these idiots like Cuomo are just that stupid.....

or that big of liars.   I posit that they're both.

Maybe he was just trying to protect his baby brother because today he said something so stupid, that Andrew Cuomo must have taken the family Fredo title from his brother Chris. Appearing on MSNBC on Friday, Gov. Cuomo declared there were no hurricanes or tornadoes before global warming.  Gov. Cuomo.  Gov. Cuomo.

 Notice the anchors didn’t push back?

Giving Gov. Cuomo the benefit of the doubt, let’s assume he was only talking about storms in New York State, and let’s also assume that the unproven climate change hypothesis has been proven, here are just a few of the dozens of examples of major storms occurring before the global warming fearmongering began:
