This guy gives all lawyers a bad name. He is the stereotypical plaintiff's attorney -- something akin to the ambulance chaser. I worked for lawyers for 35 years, primarily for defense attorneys in civil cases, but even the plaintiff's attorneys on the opposite side had far more class and ethics than Avenatti.
I did some reading on Avenatti. He graduated from George Washington University School of Law and attained the Order of the Coif, a prestigious honor. But I guess he skipped the classes on legal ethics.
I would really like to see the itemized bill that justifies his claim for $2 million. Very likely it is padded. And I was wondering -- since Daniels is not exactly wealthy, I would have thought there would have been some kind of fee agreement -- perhaps something like the contingent fee agreements used in injury cases -- wherein Avenatti would get a certain amount such as a percentage of a settlement, verdict, judgment or award that might result from a legal proceeding instead of a straight hourly rate, which would be more costly to the client. If there was no such agreement, then shame on him.
