"Hail satan forever" and "Jew bus wuz here." Those are some of the messages racists spraypainted on the back wall of the iconic Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph in downtown San Jose.Last weekend, the cathedral was vandalized. Local City Councilman Raul Peralez's mother saw the damage done by the vandals before the church could paint over it. The slogans spraypainted on the back wall were truly horrendous: they were both satanic and anti-Semitic....What makes this even worse is that locals tell NBC Bay Area that this is a regular occurrence in this neighborhood. "They’ve been doing parts of the church, they’ve done the back, they’ve done this wall, but I think it’s maybe the second time they’ve done the main building," restaurant owner Aldolfo Gomez says.
The occasion of a vandalized Catholic cathedral becomes another opportunity to scream racism? Shouldn't they be condemning, say, Christophobes or anti Catholics along with anti-semites instead?
