Few aspects of the Trump administration are as fraught with peril or with promise than President Trump's relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Trump over the weekend became the first sitting U.S. president to step on North Korean soil on Sunday, crossing the 1953 armistice line between North and South Korea during a last-minute trip to the Korean Demilitarized Zone to continue nuclear talks with Kim.

This is Trump’s third meeting with the North Korean dictator in pursuit of a nuclear deal.

“Stepping across that line was a great honor," Trump said, calling the experience “something incredible.”

Incredible indeed. Trump’s relationship with Kim has been the subject of much criticism both at home and abroad. Reconciliation with a regime that in effect runs a nation-sized concentration camp is unthinkable. At the same time, Trump has to pursue the U.S. national security by convincing North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

Can we justify a deal with a mass-murderer in order to deter potential nuclear war? Is it possible to even attain a credible deal with such a man?
