Catherine Toney is a grandmother who had made a mistake decades ago but was still paying for it due to an outdated prison sentencing system that was implemented during the Clinton era and subsequently kept in place by presidents George HW Bush and Barack Obama. Not until Donald Trump was elected president in 2016 did a real effort to reform the U.S. justice system take place and Catherine Toney was among the first to benefit.
Well, the Trump White House didn’t forget about her either. This week we found out she was given a new job and another new lease on life.
