Ocasio-Cortez blasts ‘racist tropes’ and ‘white supremacy’ in tweetstorm

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed the recent controversy about anti-Semitic tropes in a series of tweets early Wednesday, arguing that all forms of racism and bigotry serve classism and “white supremacy.â€
The freshman congresswoman did not directly address the controversy over Rep. Ilhan Omar’s statements about Israel — instead pivoting to a criticism of President Trump’s border wall and condemning bigotry in broad terms.
“If we’re so concerned about implied tropes, why aren’t we concerned about this one?†Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her first tweet at midnight.
“Where was the concern last week when 26 Dems voted for a GOP amendment to expand ICE powers rooted in the racist + false trope that Latino immigrants are more dangerous than US born citizens?â€
