A court in Paris is set to begin hearings in the arson case of Russian political performance artist Pyotr Pavlensky.

Prosecutors in the case have called for Pavlensky to receive a sentence of up to 10 years in prison after setting fire to an entrance to the Bank of France on October 16, 2017.

He was held in custody for nearly a year before being released in September 2018, following several hunger strikes and repeated claims that he had been tortured.
