Grassley begs Trump to nominate new attorney general: ‘How long does it take for you to make up your mind?’

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, implored President Trump on Monday to nominate a new attorney general nearly three weeks after he forced Jeff Sessions to resign from the position.

Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee until the end of the year, said that Trump should have nominated someone for the post “yesterday” to replace acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker.

“I think it would be wise for the president to get somebody appointed, like, yesterday,” Grassley told reporters. “How long does it take for you to make up your mind [for] who you want to be your attorney general?"

“There’s all kinds of good names floating out there. I don’t have a suggestion for it, but he ought to get somebody appointed, and all this stuff goes away,” Grassley said.

The remarks come amid calls by some Senate Democrats for Whitaker to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee over perceived conflicts of interest, particularly regarding his past criticism of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, which he now oversees.

Grassley said requests to bring Whitaker before the committee are premature given that he has been in the post for under three weeks.

“If I thought the president was going to wait six months, I’d schedule a meeting, if I was chairman of the committee, in February,” Grassley said. “I’d have a hearing on it.”

Easy answer...it’ll take as long as the Constitution and laws allow. And if the Senate is in recess, even longer. So what’s you rush?

Meanwhile ... the President is just a tad busy these days with trying to keep a full blow invasion from entering our country.  Chill Grassley, chill!

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
