Senate majority leader faults big spending programs; says issue not ‘a Republican problem’
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pinned the U.S.’s rising budget deficit on big federal spending programs and said the red ink is not a problem for only one party to solve.
Calling the growing federal deficit and debt “very disturbing†in an interview with Bloomberg News, the Kentucky Republican said changes to so-called entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security would be difficult to push through with one party in charge of Congress and the White House.
