McConnell hints: We might break the Garland rule and confirm a new SCOTUS nominee in 2020

The only thing I can think of that would have made the Kavanaugh saga more toxic is if the vacancy had involved a seat held by a Democratic appointee.

And the only thing I can think of that would have made that more toxic is if McConnell broke his own rule for Merrick Garland and tried to confirm the new nominee in a presidential election year.

I say do it, if Trump gets the opportunity.  It's a little different situation than Merrick.  Obama was absolutely leaving office while Trump is not.

Anyway, the dems broke all the rules during the Kavanaugh hearing.  That ship has sailed.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

"Garland Rule?"  I think he misspelled "Biden."

The only thing I can think of is "reporters" lose the ability to think critically once they become propagandists for the Rat party.

The "rule" he's mentioning is when one party holds the Senate and another party the Presidency in a presidential election year. In this situation the Senate doesn't vote on a nominee until after the election. It's not hard to figure out why. If there's an opening in 2020 on the SCOTUS I expect a Pub majority to support Trump's nominee.
