Once again: channeling the spirit of John McCain....
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

The FBI already said a week or more ago they wouldn't investigate- it isn't in their jurisdiction and the statute of limitations have long since run out...

....unless.. (just thought of this), there may be a thought that the investigation will actually be on something more recent (such as specific things that have taken place in the past few weeks that would fall under their jurisdiction such as actions by committee members and witness to the Senate).

As I read this I can't help but think:
What is wrong with Arizona?

McCain... Flake... why can't Arizona Republicans elect someone who will actually BE "a Republican"??

Well, I think it's because as a state, Arizona is in the process of morphing from red to blue. Slowly, but inexorably.

California, to the west, is long, long gone, and it will NEVER come back.
New Mexico to the east has "tipped" to the blue.
Interestingly, in BOTH of these states, whites now no longer comprise the majority of residents.

Arizona ain't there quite yet.
But... it's tippin' a bit.
Can anything stop it from falling?

From what I've read, Collins and Murkowski are now "aligning" with Flake on this.

"No" votes from them... unless there is an "FBI investigation"...

They don't have independent jurisdiction to investigate this as a criminal matter.  However, they could be directed to do an investigation by the President/AG, just as they get directed to do normal background checks.

Apparently, Trump is saying that he will go along with whatever Grassley wants.  So I guess we wait a week.  And then probably another, as there will be unanswered questions.  And then another.  Etc.

The good news is that if Kavanaugh is not confirmed, people are going to be PO'd big time by the midterms.  They will vote.  This whole episode has had the effect of energizing both bases, so both sides want to prolong it as long as possible.

The White House should get a statement out in the next hour, stating that it has directed the FBI to 1) review the investigation done to date regarding the allegations made by Ms. Ford against Judge Kavanaugh; 2) conduct any additional investigation -- if any -- it believes is warranted to discover the truth or falsity of those allegations, and 3)  provide a final written report to the Vice-President no later than 1600 on Thursday, October 4, 2018 regarding the results of their review and investigation.

There's the week.

If the charter for the FBI allows expansion to allegations other than Ford's, this will be a Mueller-type investigation up to and including the kitchen sink.  An unfettered investigation will be just another vehicle to delay the vote until 2021.  We'll know the fix is in if it's not limited to Ford.

MY PREDICTION: They will find more women to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault, rape or something similar before the week is up.

Expect Gloria Allred to rear her ugly head once again....

I think you're right. I just checked Drudge to see if there are new accusations- not yet.

Putting a lot of trust that FBI Dir. Wray has will, power, to contain a new investigation.

Without Flake's FBI condition,  they might have confirmed on a party line vote, or better.
