Plane from Dubai quarantined at JFK airport after several passengers fall ill

A plane from Dubai was quarantined at New York John F. Kennedy airport after numerous passengers fell ill on a flight arriving early Wednesday, the New York City mayor's office said.

Initial reports from NBC New York said up to 100 passengers fell ill, but a subsequent statement from Emirates put that number at just 10. The discrepancy was not immediately clear.

"Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on #EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill," said the statement. "On arrival, as a precaution, they were attended to by local health authorities. All others will disembark shortly."

An Emirate airlines flight from Dubai to New York City’s JFK Airport has been quarantined with reports of 100 sick passengers on board:

City spokesman Eric Phillips confirmed that 10 people were taken to Jamaica Hospital by 11 a.m. He said “a few others” were also showing symptoms and they were being held for treatment and a possible transport to hospital.

The rest of the passengers debarked and are out and about.

We have no idea what those dozen people who were sick have.

Passengers were at the Haj in Mecca apparently.  Wonder if the sick ones on the flight in NY were also?

10 is a lot better than 100 and I originally heard cholera spoken about. Potential crisis.
