Mattis: Supporting the Arab Coalition in Yemen is the right thing to do
The Trump administration has reviewed the US’s support for the Arab Coalition in Yemen, and has “determined that it is the right thing to doâ€, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said at a Pentagon briefing on Tuesday.
“We reviewed the support for the Arab Coalition when we came into office, we determined that it was the right thing to do to support them in the defense of their own countries but also to restore the rightful government there,†Mattis said.
Mattis added that the US’s aim in Yemen is to keep the “human cost at an absolute minimumâ€, and that this is where they engage with the coalition.
