Oklahoma will soon be home to the largest wind farm in America

Saturday, March 17, 2018 by: Edsel Cook

(Natural News) The largest wind farm in the United States is coming soon to Oklahoma, reported EcoWatch, now that the Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has reached an arrangement with Walmart and Arkansas state agencies to guarantee the project.

The state’s famously-shaped and windy panhandle region will be hosting the Wind Catcher Energy Connection project. A huge wind farm with hundreds of individual wind turbines, the project was developed by Invenergy LLC and will be built by SWEPCO.

Before or after they land in Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri?
I think this is interesting because a huge wind farm has the potential to be decimating to critical species.

The Sutton Avian Research Center has monitored nesting raptors in Cimarron County, the western most county of the Panhandle, for several years.

Some of the species found there include: Prairie Falcons, American Kestrels, Mississippi Kites, Swainson’s Hawks, Ferruginous Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Cooper’s Hawks, and Golden Eagles. For some of these species, this is the only part of Oklahoma where they can be found nesting.

How about the thousands of sliced up geese, ducks and any other bird that dares to fly close to them?

This is directly in the path of the Central Flyway

The wind is there.  When we go to an Oklahoma casino going north from Wichita Falls into Oklahoma, the wind will knock you over.  Every time we go, we have to fight the wind to walk.  Two times, we almost couldn't walk and had to hang on to car doors while opening them or they would have slammed back and hit the car or be torn off.  I opened a casino door and couldn't hold it and it slammed back.  Two men had to come get it closed.
I have to fight to stay on my feet to walk five feet to get in car when Bob brings the car around.
The wind is there.

Upon living briefly in Caspar Wyoming, my mother remarked it was the only town where they used a chainsaw (or a chain), for a wind sock.
