Report: WH Won't Release Trump Picture Undoing Obama Gun Law

The White House will not release a photograph of President Donald Trump signing legislation last year making it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns, CBS News reported Thursday.

"We don't plan to release the picture at this time," press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told CBS News in an email dated April 19, 2017.

CBS said Thursday the response from Sanders came after "repeated emails and phone calls" for the photo.

Trump signed the legislation Feb. 28, 2017, in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. It rolled back an Obama-era rule enacted after the Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut in December 2016.

CBS asked for a picture from the session — and it was the network's 12th request.

A White House photographer told CBS that pictures were taken of the signing.

Only the administration can release them, as the White House is not subjected to the Freedom of Information Act, according to the report.

The bill, HJ Resolution 40, was introduced 10 days before Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration, and received quick review under the Congressional Review Act.

That law allows Congress to quickly review and repeal new regulations, CBS reported.

President Barack Obama had called for tightened restrictions against the mentally ill obtaining guns after Sandy Hook.

Had the law remained in effect, according to CBS, nearly 75,000 names of mentally ill Americans would have been added to a federal database that would have stopped them from buying a gun.

Rush just mentioned that this story has been debunked. Rush said it, but I couldn’t vouch for which is true, the news story or the debunking.

There is no picture of him making it easier for the mentally ill to buy guns because - by all accounts - it never happened, as AC alluded above. What was changed was Obama's inclusion of people who have trouble handling their own finances in the definition of mentally ill, at least as Limbaugh explained it.

Inability to balance a checkbook better not be enough to brand someone mentally ill, or many of us could be in trouble!

Why should he, anyway? This was a "public signing," so if they were doing their job as Press, they should have been right there taking pictures.  They should already have pictures.   Unless, of course, they were being babies about covering Trump because they don't like him, and snubbed the signing.

In which case, I reiterate:  Why should he produce pictures they would already have if they had done their jobs in the first place?  If they didn't do their jobs, then why is it up to him to cover for them so they can look like they did?  Piss on 'em.
