Monday I wrote about Megyn Kelly’s broadside against Jane Fonda and predicted that Kelly would face consequences for bringing up Fonda’s past as “Hanoi Jane.” Today, Fox News reports that NBC News Chairman Andy Lack is “furious” about Kelly’s commentary which was not closely reviewed by anyone at the network:

It would have been hard for [Noah] Oppenheim, the president of NBC News who oversees Kelly’s troubled hour of “Today,” to review Kelly’s script as he was in North Korea with “Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt.

I've been following this from the beginning. There was at least one report that Megyn was fired over this. I almost posted it here, but never got around to it. Apparently, that was fake news.


However, there are numerous other reports saying the Megyn can no longer book guests on her show because people are afraid of retaliation for being associated with her. This I can believe.


Megyn's entire time at NBC has been extremely rocky from the start. I'm really not sure how much longer she can hang on. Certainly her Today style talk show is on life support. Unless they transfer her to a more suitable position where she can interview and report on politics, I doubt she will make it to the end of the year.

Maybe she figured she's circling the drain anyway and getting herself fired over something like this might give her one last chance to reboot her career before it's completely suffocated by the stench of failure?

The "stench of failure" is offset by the 20 or so million she got from NBC. CNN's probably keeping a chair ready for her.
